Outdoor Education
Our Outdoor Education Program is integrated at every year level.
Through collaboration with Wadawurrung Elders, nearby farmers, social enterprise, and land-care groups, we provide regular opportunities for students to engage with rhythmic seasonal observation and be in nature, with a strong focus on individual wellbeing, preservation, re-wilding, and reverence for the natural world. From the Early Years, students are encouraged to experience nature in all seasons, and to dress adequately for the outdoors.
Through the Steiner curriculum, each year level has specific connections to Outdoor Education:
Class 1 – Weekly Bush Play
Class 2 – Bush Play, Elements and the Seasons
Class 3 – Farming and Kitchen Garden
Class 4 – Animals and Humans
Class 5 - Botany
Class 6 - Horticulture
Crafting with natural elements and fibres are part of our weekly Handwork Program through the school, developing awareness and pride for making beauty from the natural world with our hands and hearts; making with purpose, creativity and expression.
Camps
Our school values of Integrity, Vitality, Inclusivity, Balance and Warmth are embedded in our camp experiences. Camps are scaffolded to meet the developmental needs of different ages and offer opportunities to expand independence, build resilience, deepen friendships and community, and enhance a love for the outdoors through being in communion with the natural world. Camps begin in Class 2 with a one-night sleep-over in tents on the school grounds and culminate in a week long camp wilderness camp in Class 6.
